A Few THings to Show You.............

By the time you read this I will be headed to the store.

I wanted to show you a few things first............

This is a really great looking corner in a friend's home. I am loving the table.

Her and her dear hubby painted and distressed it.

More Strawberry Freezer Jam was mixed up today. :)

I love using the little containers. I think they are so darn cute!
And............................. they are perfect to give to friends.

Wonder if I could make some kind of label to fit on the lid? Maybe like a round circle with some thing on it? I could always glue it down.

This is my mom (HI MOM!) holding the newest quilt that she put together.

My neice Kayla, is expecting her second child in 3 days. We already know its going to be a girl. Chloe Jane , we are waiting on you. :)
Jane is my mom's ( maxine jane) middle name and also my maternal great grandmother's( Margaret Jane) middle name

Closer view- I love, love love the chenille squares.
It is so unbelievably soft!!!

All we need is the sweet little baby.

Weekend Finds

Hi all,

I hope your weekend was a good one.

The last week it has been super humid here. I don't mind the heat, as long as I don't have to feel like am walking around with a wet blanket on me.

I can't believe this is the middle of August and I haven't even been swimming. I remember when we were young, we swam every day, all day long. A bunch of fish we were. :)

and now to get back on track..... I wanted to show you a few goodies that I found over the weekend.

The metal goods......

The hay bale hook I found Thursday at a yard sale. The older gentlemen having the yard sale was amazed that I knew what it was. ( hey, I am old.lol) cost $1.00
Now what am i going to do with it?

The dried corn holder was found Thursday too. I seen one in Country Sampler( I think the new issue) with dried corn stuck on the prongs for Fall. cost $1.00

The old oil can (I think thats what it is) was found Saturday while at a collectibles store in Buffalo , Ohio.

more goodies here........

Saturday before going to the store in Buffalo; my mom, sister Karla, and I went to a few yard sales.

cutting board( which I want to paint) $1.00

candle holder 50cents

vintage linens 50 cents

vintage P&G napitha soap $1.00/bar

soap dispenser 50 cents( I already have my dish soap in it). :)

Longaberger baskets..................

Now, I am not a die hard Longaberger Basket fan. Why?
Because I think they are overrated.
Somewhere down the line they lost the historical signifigance and artistry of handmade baskets.

Have you ever made a basket? If so, you know the work and warmth that goes in to creating from your hands without a mold or a nail gun.( okay , I need to step down from my box now.)

I was yard saling solo on Friday morning and found these two baskets. The girl having the sale was young, way young(maybe 18-20). I asked her the price on these ... she said I could have them both for $2.00. I paid her and stashed them in the car before looking at anything else.

Maybe I will use them as gift baskets, or maybe just to store things in.

I didn't have a problem paying $2.00 for them.

Last, but not least..........

old school desk...........................$3.00
What should I clean it with, anyone know?
Should I apply a sealer or something?

Safelink Wireless.........

Just on for a minute. I know I have been absent for a few days. We have gotten the storage building cleaned out, the garden weeded and have been helping some friends with things around their house. Hopefully by the weekend, I will be in blogging mode again. :)
But in the meantime, I wanted to tell you , if you or someone you know is in need of a cell phone , they may want to check out the program with Safelink Wireless.

SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers.

The plan is for a free cell phone with approximately 65 minutes FREE EVERY MONTH. The minutes DO rollover if they are not all used. I signed my aunt up a few days ago and she has already received hers. They are perfect for someone who should have access to a phone at all times .
Gotta go , I still have freezer jam to make and "someone" just spilled a whole pitcher of lime kool-aid (it's never ending , I tell ya).

Plans for the weekend?

What are your plans for the weekend?
Mine include cleaning out our storage building and doing some work around the yard.
This past Wednesday we went to the Ohio State Fair with my mom and stepdad. They treated us. :)
We walked around a while in the afternoon, ate some great fair food and then went and listened to Foreignor and Eddie Money at the Ohio Center.
It was a really great way to spend the day.
Thursday I rested, I am not used to staying out late anymore. lol
Today, I went and run some errands, stopped at the store and decluttered a few drawers.
This weekend is the Salt Fork Arts & Crafts festival.
Still haven't made up my mind if I want to go.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 88 and humid.
That kind of weather is not ideal for walking around in tents that are lit up with 100 watt bulbs

gastado(pasado) la n de mañana la cocina

"gastado(pasado) la n de mañana la cocina"

thats Spanish for............................................

"Spent the morning in the kitchen"

:) :) :) :)

The last day ot two we have picked a bunch of tomatoes and a whole bunch more of peppers and cukes. I need to get a pic of our little garden, you would be amazed at how much stuff we are getting for such a tiny little space. I wanted to get the tomatoes and some peppers used up and out of the way. Salsa was the first thing that came to mind. Let me tell ya, I love salsa! I could eat it everyday. :)

I don't can or cold pack it; I freeze it.
It's so much easier, doesn't heat up the kitchen and I think it tastes fresher. Right before serving, I always add a squirt of lime juice to it.

We are going to a friend's home to put up new ceiling lights, socialize and have supper later today
Be back soon, :)
