cha-ching!!!

The yard sale is over!!
We made $273.10!
Woo-hoo! There were cars lined up all morning on our road. The weather was wonderful and folks stood around talking after making a purchase, it was just a super socializing time. I had posted to freecycle what time the sale was going to be over and that leftovers would be given away. I had lots of emails but the one I picked was the right one! She is just a young woman, only 20 and a baby on the way. She lives in the government apts. down the road. After she left with the 2 bags( thats all I had left), we went to the store to get some food to put on the grill. When we got home I got out of the car and there was a wonderful thank you card in the door!! She really touched my heart! I have her addy so I will definitely stop for a visit.
Gonna check out some yard sales for baby things. I am sure she could use them. :)
Now, what am I going to spend the money on? Well, 40.00 is going for plates for the van.
50.00 is going on CWF-UV for the steps and front deck. Another 40.00 is going on white ceiling paint. Lets see, that gives me about 140.oo to spend. I know its a little more than that but I plan on going to starbucks and grabing a frozen drink. :)
hhmmmm. Maybe a few new towels and new throw pillows. I am also going to pick up the ingredients to make some homemade laundry soap. I figure the ingredients cost about $5.00 and it only takes 2 tablespons per load. thats right, tablespoons. less than 3 cents a load...... if I figured right and I should get over 111 loads. Everyone I know has been raving about it. You can make liquid or powdered.
Me? I am making powdered. Its easier to store in small spaces. :)
Oh, I need to pick up some styrofoam bowls at the store. I am making homemade noodles for the family reunion tomorrow. I also still have to wrap the prizes for the adult games we will be playing. Yard still needs mowed and I also have got to water the potted plants....... see, I need to stop gabbing.
bye for now, kim

  8. Hey Kim no I don't work there at the thrift store, but I work in Rittman and they had their annual yard sales this past weekend. So I work a 24 hour shift tomorrow so I think I'll go tomorrow evening to the store.

  9. Nothing like getting rid of a little "junk" and getting some spending $ while you are at if. :) I'm glad the leftover stuff got to go to a deserving person. I'm sure she was so happy.

Sounds like you are going to be busy. Have fun at the reunion!

I love how your mind and heart works for that girl who's pregnant. I am sure she could use a few extras from your yard sale-ing trips and that is what it's all about caring for others, helping others.

  14. Wow! Great job on the yard sale! We have yard sales often. The best sale we had was when we sold everything with no need to haul anything back into our garage or to charity. At the last minute when my husband was away taking down our signs, I asked a nice family if they wanted all that was left. They were thrilled and so was I! When my husband returned to see nothing left, he was thrilled, too! Thanks for stopping by and sharing my farm table fantasy with me!
