W.W.W. SAnTa's are here...........

Good morning everyone,
I have been up since about 5am. I haven't slept well the last couple nights. Just alot of things on my mind lately. I go through that occasionally. It's like I get huge spurts of energy and have all kinds of ideas. I know I need to take advantage of it while they last. :)
I finished two Santa's last night. Ii am going to add a hang tag, what should the tag say ? any ideas??

Next ones like this will be smaller to use as ornies.. I am thinking of doing them in different coats too. These Santa's haven't any legs so they are pretty easy to do. I wanted to come up with something on my own instead of using patterns all the time. I have tons of patterns and love them all, but when Ii try to follow a pattern I get confused and end up quitting the project. I can look at a picture and figure out what I am supposed to do better than trying to read it. :)
Does that make sense?? lol

close up

beards are made from raw wool.

I have two huge feed bags full of "straight from the sheep" wool :). Whenever I need some for a project , I get some out, wash with a SMALL amount of Dawn dish detergent in warm water and rinse in warm water too. Fill up both sides of the sink at the same time. That way you know when rinsing, the water is the same temperature as the water used to wash with. If you wish to try this at home, make sure you wait to add detergent after water is in sink. You don't want a bunch of bubbles.
Handle wool carefully so it doesn't "felt" up. Press water out gently, don't squeeze or wring.
I lay it outside in the sun to dry. you can turn it to speed drying time. just try not to over handle it while wet.

  1. The Santa's are cute :) I just still can't think about Christmas. It's not time yet! LOL

I totally get what you are saying about patterns. I can somewhat get them but I would rather just "wing it". I seem to do better that way and well, it saves me money because I don't have to buy patterns! LOL

I don't feel like I'm sleeping well, either. I sleep but it's like I dream about everyday life and things worrying me all night long. I hate that. I also need to make myself go to bed earlier.I just stay up because I'm working on whatever and keep going. That needs to stop!

    Have a great day!

  5. Love the Santa's they are great. My Grandma couldn't read a pattern to save her life but make the most beautiful HC afghans and quilts!! She would look at a doily and was able to crochet from sight, it was amazing, she could do a 'granny square' in a matter of seconds!! I can't crochet a bit!!
    Congrats on the award too!!
Have a great day!! Get some rest!!

  8. Love your Santas, Kim! Too cute!
About patching the snowman light, that's a good idea about the polymer clay! I was just thinking the same thing a little while ago. It's made of resin so it should work, right?
I also thought about dipping his head into some glass glitter after I repaint the chip black. That's an easier and cheaper cover up! LOL!
